Here’s a watercolor painting of a Siamese cat. I did a simple background.
This is a good example of using the white of the paper for the white in a picture.
I had the privilege of painting an exotic pet and his owner.
I got to creatively personalize the portrait because of adding the finger painting behind them.
One of my first plans for this portrait. Though it was changed again before I did the painting.
This is an example of a 9″x13″ portrait.
This portrait was like painting a wild cat. Though the Bengal is tame.
Here’s the Real kitty.
When I start with a sketch, I try to make sure it’s as close to the same size to the photo as possible. This helps me keep better proportions as the picture progresses.
Second, I make a basic wash for each main section of color. A wash is a light color of watercolor paint
The 3rd stage began the detail. Making sure the perspective is accurate, especially with the eyes.
This portrait had a lot more detail than others, because of the curley hair. It was like doing a 2,000 piece puzzle. LOL.
The photograph was darker than the dog is, so I lightened the painting a little.
This is one of two of my workstations.
Duke was one of a series of paintings.
Beaux, a hunting dog.
This picture had a couple 1sts for me. 1st geometric pattern. and 1st pinstripe shirt.
I learned more on the natural coloring for animals doing this painting.
Continue to refine the detail.
I learned a lot about lines in shadow. Wow!
Oh another 1st. Light coming through window blinds.
Simba really did have a mane.
This is a practice to see how fast I can go in painting a picture. Not as fast as I would like yet. 🙂
This is Nikki a Toy poodle. He was done mainly in watercolor, but I also used watercolor pencils.
This picture was done in watercolor pencils. Very fun.
This is a good example of different stages in a dogs life.
A collage of memories.
I worked on the front 3 pictures 1st, matching colors so the pictures would blend well together.
There was much more detail in the main picture. It took a while to plan out each section to paint.
